Niuland schools compete in district-level science fair
DIMAPUR — The sub-divisional education officer (SDEO) of Niuland, in collaboration with the Directorate of School Education (DoSE), Kohima, and the Samagra Shiksha of Nagaland, organised a district-level students’ science fair for the schools under Niuland.
According to a press statement, it consisted of a seminar competition with the theme ‘millets – a super food or a diet fad’ and an exhibition competition with the theme ‘science & technology’ at the SDEO Niuland office on Tuesday.
SDEO Niuland (DEO charge) Erali Swu exhorted the students to have a scientific and inquiring mind in order to make one’s mind observant of new ideas and knowledge while delivering the keynote address.
She also informed them of the numerous activities and competitions that the department has planned for the upcoming academic session, all of which are aimed at the students’ overall growth and development.
The first, second, and third positions of the seminar competition were bagged by Vilotoli Yeptho of St. Joseph Viyito, Sahil of Shepherd School, and Kalivi Shikhu of GHSS Niuland, respectively.
Rick Chetri and Tovi Assumi of Central Academy Kuhuboto, Nazia Begum and Catherine of St. Joseph Viyito, and Pilovi I Chophy and Nisheto Awomi of Shepherd High School, Niuland, won the first, second, and third prizes in the exhibition competition, respectively.
The winners (first place) of both the seminar and the exhibition will represent the district at the state level science fair, which is tentatively scheduled for September 12 and will be organised by the DoSE.
