Niuland, Peren, Tuensang, Mon to battle in Dr. T Ao Trophy semi-finals

TUENSANG — The quarter-final matches of the ongoing inter-district football tournament, Dr. T Ao Trophy, concluded on Tuesday, with Niuland, Peren, Tuensang, and Mon securing victories over their opponents to reach the semi-finals.

Niuland district netted four goals, scored by Apeto, Thulungso, Toka, and Hunoto, while Ghuqhe secured the only goal for Zunheboto.

Peren triumphed over Phek with a score of 2-0, with goals scored by Haileuyibe Iranggau and Khiuwangbo Kaurinta.

In the third match, the host district, Tuensang, secured victory with a solitary goal from Ayenmongba, while Noklak failed to score.

Mon won the final quarter-final match against Mokokchung with a score of 1-0, with Dangai Konyak scoring the decisive goal in the 88th minute of the second half.

The semi-finals of the tournament will take place on September 25. The first match will be between Niuland and Tuensang, while the second match will feature Peren against Mon.

An exhibition match will also be held between Nagaland Football Association XI and Officials XI, comprising the officials of the planning committee.
