Niuland farmers receive farm machineries

[caption id="attachment_254394" align="aligncenter" width="565"] Officials from Agriculture department and beneficiaries at the distribution of farm machineries in Niuland town on June 12.[/caption] Dimapur, June 13 (EMN): Department of Agriculture, Niuland, organised a distribution programme of farm machineries namely paddy thresher and power tiller under Sub-Mission on Agriculture Mechanization (SMAM) during 2018-19 at Sub- Divisional Agriculture Office, Niuland, on June 12. The programme was chaired by L Kivika Chophi, SDAO Niuland, who also highlighted on the aims and objectives of the scheme and various facilities that could be availed under the scheme. A short video clip on the operation of paddy thresher and brief explanation on its advantages over the conventional method was presented by Imkongyanger, AI. The special guest of the programme, Athrila S, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Niuland, lauded the department of Agriculture for extending the facilities available under the scheme for the uplift of the farming community. She advised and encouraged the farmers to judiciously use the machineries and requested the beneficiary villages to extend the utility of the machineries even to the neighbouring villages. A short speech on behalf of the beneficiaries was delivered by Viyito, GB of Hakhizhe village. He thanked the department of Agriculture for providing the much needed machineries to the farmers. Stating that Niuland sub-division has a huge potential for increasing productivity, he said farm mechanisation was much needed presently. The vote of thanks was pronounced by Veronica Yeptho, AO. An undertaking was also obtained from all the beneficiary villages and a stem warning was issued against misuse of the farm machineries. A total of 60 farmers participated in the distribution programme.
