Dimapur, Nov. 25 (EMN): The 44th annual meet of the Niuland Area Sports Association (NASA) got underway at Niuland town’s ground on Monday, November 25, with Azheto Chophi, advisor to the collective leadership of the GPRN/NSCN as the event’s chief guest.
An update also informed that Chophi kicked off the 44th Hovishe Memorial Football Trophy and 3rd Henito Chishi Memorial Men’s Volleyball Trophy at the inaugural function.
Speaking at the event, Chophi said peace and unity among the Naga people is the need at this juncture when the people are yearning for peace and for a lasting solution to the Naga political issue stated to be in the final stages of the talks.
He referred to ‘Goal for peace,’ the motto of the association, and requested the people to promote and uphold peace among the people through sports which he said plays in important role in building friendship.
He maintained that the Naga people must support one another and be united in order to achieve their dreams and aspirations.
Encouraging the youth to be ambitious and to work hard in pursuit of their goals, Chophi said, ‘We are living in a progressive society and the younger generation must equip themselves with positive changes to be at par with others.’
