Nine new Covid-19 cases in Manipur; tally rises to 71

Imphal, May 31 (EMN): With nine new positive cases, the Covid-19 tally in Manipur increased to 71, while four others have been discharged from hospital after recovery, health officials reported on Sunday.

The additional director and spokesperson of Manipur’s Health department, Dr. Kh Sasheekumar confirmed the new development in two press releases, which were made available to the media on May 31.

The first press release informed that three female (aged 26, 21 and 19) and one male (20) were tested at the Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratories (VDRL) of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), both government hospitals in Imphal and were found Covid-19 positive on Saturday night (May 30).

The second statement said that five persons (three male and two female) were tested Covid-19 positive and reported from VRDL of RIMS.

The conditions of all the new cases were informed to be stable and they would be shifted to the Covid care facilities of RIMS and JNIMS, it informed.

All necessary control measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it added.

Four female patients were discharged from the said medical institutes after they were found negative in two consecutive tests.

It may be mentioned that seven others, including the state’s first two cases, have already been discharged from the hospitals after recovery in April and May.

With the new cases of confirmation and recovery, the total number of recovered cases increased to 11, and the active cases to 60.
