Dimapur, Aug. 28 (EMN): The Nihokhu Village Council and the people of the village have resolved to restrict the entry of heavy vehicles into the village citing deplorable road condition.

In a letter addressed to the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Niuland Sub-Division, Dimapur, the village council stated that the stretch of road from 4th Mile, Dimapur to Nihokhu village has been left in a pathetic road condition despite being appraised on the need to repair it by the frontal organisations and student’s union of the area.

It said the “deteriorating” road condition is posing a threat to life to the commuters and the villagers.

“Therefore, in exercise of our rights, to have a safe and good condition road, we Nihokhu Village Council and the public of Nihokhu village has resolved to restrict the entry of heavy vehicles carrying sand gravels, boulders, logs etc. within the village jurisdiction till such time the road is repaired to the desired extent,” read the letter.

It informed that the restriction will start from September 6 “until such time the village authority may decide” to lift.
