Dimapur, Oct. 8 (EMN): The additional district magistrate of Sivasagar in Assam has reinforced night curfew from, 6 pm to 6 am, in the 5 km belt of Assam-Nagaland border with effect from August 23 for a period of 60 days, i.e., till Oct. 22.
A DIPR report on Monday quoted the Sivasagar official as stating that the curfew has been imposed as a precautionary measure to prevent occurrence of unlawful activities by anti-social elements/extremists coming across the Assam/Nagaland border in the belt of Sivasagar district. Movement of any person/group of persons and any vehicular traffic are prohibited during the period of night curfew, it stated.
However, magistrates, security personnel and officials on duty are exempt from the purview of the order, it informed.
