Night carnival begins in Wokha

Wokha, Dec. 8 (EMN): An eight-day night carnival, organised by the Wokha District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WDCCI), kick-started at Wokha town police point with K Furhesie Nyuwi, additional deputy commissioner of Wokha, as the special guest of the inaugural programme.

Speaking at the inaugural programme, Nyuwi called upon the public to imbibe true Christian spirit of forgiveness as they welcome the birth of Jesus, the prince of peace. He also informed the stall owners and visitors to keep the town clean.

He also appreciated WDCCI for providing a platform to the local vendors and entrepreneurs to sell their products. Besides, he also advised the youth to enjoy the birth of Jesus Christ in the right direction by avoiding intoxication and other immoral activities. 

Renpithung Kikon, WDCCI president, stated that the motive behind organising the carnival was to promote local vegetable vendors and entrepreneurs as well as student organisations and various SHG to sell their products under one platform. He called upon everyone to take part in peace, love and forgiveness.

Zaranchee Murry, member of Wokha district entrepreneurs’ association (WDEA), extended Christmas greetings to the congregation. He also called upon the citizens of Wokha town to support local entrepreneurs to boosts their economy.
