NIELIT celebrates 4th anniversary of Digital India

Dimapur, July 2 (EMN): To mark the 4th anniversary of the launching of Digital India programme on a theme “Digital India New India,” NIELIT Kohima conducted an interaction session on the initiative and impact of Digital India programme in the State on July 1 with Sushanta Kumar Mondal, State Informatics Officer (SIO), and LanusungkumAier, ASIO from NIC, Nagaland State Centre; Yanger Longkumer, Programme Officer of IT&C; and Lanuwabang, Director of NIELIT Kohima, as the speakers.
The session, which was moderated by Morimenba Amer, Deputy Director of NIELIT Kohima, began with a welcome and introduction session.

There was discussion on the key vision areas of Digital India: Digital infrastructure as a utility to every citizen, Governance and services on demand, and Digital empowerment of citizens and the progress made in promoting e-Governance and digital opportunities enabling improvement in government services.

t was informed that the department of IT&C would soon be launching online services for birth/ death certificate, NPSC registration etc for the benefit of the public, extending opportunities and better access to information in an expedited manner. It encouraged the public to visit the State portal for availing various citizen oriented services provided by different departments.

Director of NIELIT Kohima briefed on efforts made by NIELIT Kohima towards digitally empowering the citizens including setting up of training centres in Eastern Nagaland for skilling and empowering the underprivileged to bridge the digital divide. He also stated that workshops on digital payment were extensively conducted and different modes of payment were also introduced to encourage cashless transaction.

Further, training on IT and digital services including GST and digital payment have been conducted for government officials across the State, he added.
