DIMAPUR, JANUARY 7

THE National Investigating Agency (NIA) may launch a probe into the killing of nine persons belonging to ethnic Karbi tribe of Assam at Pachaspura area in Dimapur.
Assam Home Secretary GD Tripathy told ‘Express’ that the state received a verbal confirmation from the Centre in this regard on Monday.“Since insurgent groups KPLT and Rengma Naga Hill Protection Force are involved in massacre and the case has inter-state ramifications, it was decided to hand over the case to the NIA. An official order will be out soon,” Tripathy said.
On January 3, nine decomposed bodies were found in the Assam-Nagaland border.
Officials said insurgents tied the hands of people before they were shot in the head.
