NHIDCL Regional Office Kohima organises a workshop on land acquisition and the BhoomiRashi portal to train officials on compensation and legal provisions.

DIMAPUR — The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Company Ltd. (NHIDCL), Regional Office, Kohima, organised a field-level training workshop on "Land acquisition for National Highways and payment of compensation through BhoomiRashi portal" at Hotel Vivor, Kohima, on Wednesday.
An update stated that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) is engaged in developing India's road infrastructure sector and executes its projects through various implementation agencies, viz. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), NHIDCL and state PWDs.
Accordingly, the workshop was organised for field-level officers of district administrations, state PWD officials, NHIDCL staff and other state government officials involved in the process of land acquisition. A total of 75 participants attended the workshop.

Domain experts, namely, Col. Rajendra Kumar Swain, consultant at LA MoRTH; Mohd Salman, senior manager (IT), MoRTH; and Ruhul Amin Choudhury, senior manager (NHIDCL), RO-Mizoram, were invited to impart understanding of the National Highways Act, 1956; the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (RFCTLARR) Act, 2013; the recently launched BhoomiRashi portal for payment of land compensation; and the practical aspects of land acquisition, determination of land compensation, land mutation and land lease process for National Highways in other neighbouring states (Mizoram).
A presentation on Nagaland Land (Requisition and Acquisition) Act, 1965, and other relevant land laws in Nagaland was made by Kevingoto Kulnu, Revenue Officer, office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima.
Designed as a capacity-building and awareness exercise, the workshop deliberated on the provisions of the NH Act 1956, RFCTLARR Act, 2013, and other central laws and to compare those provisions with the state's own land acquisition Acts and to find areas of convergence and divergence through interactive Q&A sessions to enable participants to address field-level challenges and exchange practical knowledge related to land acquisition.
