NHIDCL imparts vocational training to Naga youth

Dimapur, April 20 (EMN): A total of 30 unemployed youth and school drop-outs from Peren district have successfully completed a three-month vocational skill development programme.

The vocational skill development programme for the youths of Peren Kipeuzang village was sponsored by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), in collaboration with the Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC). The training concluded on April 20.

A report from the village stated that the training was inaugurated on January 25 by the deputy commissioner of Peren, Sentiwapang Aier. It stated that the training began with thirty unemployed and school drop-outs. The subject of studies during the training included basic fundamental knowledge on civil engineering (theory and practical), cost estimation, construction work etc.

It added that each trainee was awarded a monthly stipend of INR 15,000 per month besides availing free lunch, free tool kits and certificate on completion of the course.

The closing was held at Perenkipeuzang village chaired by the village council chairman, Mireulung Sephe. It stated that certificates were given away to the trainees by the additional deputy commissioner and special guest, K Mhathong Tsanglho.

Speaking on the occasion, the special guest has encouraged the trainees to uphold the value of dignity of labour and take up challenges in various fields of construction in order to uplift their living standard and also boost the state economy.

The closing programme was attended by Seyievilie, extra assistant commissioner (EAC), Peren; Heisolu Sephe, chairman of Perenkipeuzang  village; Goan Buras, women leaders of Perenkipeuzang village; Amit Kumar, manager of NHIDCL; Arvind Yadav, CIDC co-ordinator; Aditya Sharma, DCM of Mayashel Construction; and officials from various company.

Report also stated that the organisers have expressed readiness to provide employment to the local educated unemployed youth and school dropouts in various ongoing projects of NHIDCL in order to maintain their livelihood.
