WOKHA — Despite the district administration’s request to keep the bandh in abeyance, the Lotha civil society organisations (CSOs) have decided to take their indefinite protest further with a ‘total lockdown.’

Appealing the organisations to call off the bandh, the Wokha Deputy Commissioner, in a letter to the chairman of Lotha Hoho, had said that that the Chief Engineer, PWD (NH), has given a final 10-day notice to the contractor for resumption of work along the National Highway-2, failing which necessary action would be initiated against the contractor.

However, the CSOs were adamant that the bandh would continue with total lockdown, including vehicular movement and commercial businesses across the district.

Only educational institutions, cases of medical emergency, media personnel and paramilitary are exempted from the bandh, the CSOs stated.
