Dimapur, March 17 (EMN): In a major setback to the proposed construction of NH 129 (A) connecting Dimapur in Nagaland and Maram in Manipur, landowners of Chümoukedima area have decided to stall any developmental activities from tri-junction at Khuova River Bridge to Huocharü River bordering Peren district, without being paid adequate land compensation.

The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the landowners on March 17.

A statement from the Landowners Coordination Committee (LOCC) and appended by its convenor, Thepfulhoutuo Shüya, affirmed that they would not allow construction of road along the stretch of land without land compensation.

The committee also resolved to pursue the resolution adopted on January 26 and added that it had apprised the Chümoukedima Village Council (CVC) on February 6 about its stand.

In the light of this circumstances, the landowners demanded the concerned authority to take up the land compensation issue immediately in order to pave the way for construction of the road.
