DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Gaon Bura Federation (NGBF) Peace Committee has acknowledged the joint appeal of the Naga political groups to the NSCN-K (Ang Mai-Mulatonu) and NSCN-K (Yung Ang) groups for a cessation of hostilities in eastern Nagaland.
In a press release, the committee termed the January 15, 2026, coordinated appeal for restraint, peace, and unity a landmark for Nagas.
The NGBF Peace Committee acknowledged the Naga national leaders from NNPG and NSCN (IM) who signed the press statement, namely N Kitovi Zhimomi, Rev. Puni Mao, Karaibo Chawang, Isak Sumi, Alezo Venuh, and P Tikhat Naga.
The NGBF called upon the leadership of NSCN-K (Yung Ang) and NSCN (Ang Mai-Mulatonu) to retrospect and realign the Naga political movement with the desire of the Naga people. It stated that fratricidal encounters and killings are a "tried and tested philosophy which has miserably failed the Naga people".
The NGBF expressed solidarity with the "Naga brethren in the east" and appealed to all apex tribal bodies across the international border to ensure brotherhood and loyalty to the common Naga aspiration, rising above personal grudges and factional politics.
