Ngada mini Hornbill Festival begins

Kohima, Nov. 26 (EMN): Three-day Ngada Mini Hornbill Festival kicked off today on a high note marked by a traditional morung pillar-pulling ceremony. This stone pulling is an important part of the Ngada mini-hornbill festival which is schedule to be held on Nov. 27 and 28. Ngada is the post harvest festival of the Rengma Naga community. R. Khing , Advisor Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services and Women Resources Development Government of Nagaland graced the auspicious event. Nokchashashi Addl. DC Tseminyu and all Rengma villages leaders attended the ceremony. The morung log was pulled from Tseminyu New Town to RSA ground Tseminyu Old Town, one and a half kilometers away from the town. Hundreds of people attended the ceremony dressed in Rengma traditional attire. The main event will begin from November 27 where R. Khing will be the Chief host and R.Binchilo Thong IAS ,Chief Secretary to the Government of Nagaland shall be the host. The Ngada guests for this year are Namri Nchang, Advisor Water Resources Govt. of Nagaland, Zale Neikha, Advisor Youth Resources and Sports, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire, Advisor Rural Development and Mmhonlomo Kikon, Advisor IT, Science and Technology and NRE. The event is organised by Rengma Frontal Organisations in collaboration with the Government of Nagaland.
