Dimapur, Nov. 18 (EMN): In a drives against the menace of transportation of contraband goods through trains, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) recovered
contraband items worth INR. 85 crore during current year up to the month of October.
In an update Chief Public Relations Officer Subhanan Chanda said the RPF detected 219 cases during and apprehended 57 persons involved in transportation of contraband items like cannabis, foreign cigarettes, foreign made clothes, drugs, narcotics, cosmetics, morphine and alcohol.
It may be mentioned here that during last three years, the RPF of NFR has detected 586 cases of smuggling of contraband goods and items worth about INR 16.48 crore and apprehended 168 persons involved in illegal activities, he informed.
