Northeast Frontier Railway installed women’s hygiene vending machines at Guwahati and Kamakhya railway stations on International Women’s Day.

DIMAPUR — Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has installed six multi-product women’s hygiene vending machines at Guwahati and Kamakhya railway stations to improve access to hygiene products for women passengers.
According to a press release issued by the Chief Public Relations Officer of NFR, four machines have been installed at Guwahati Railway Station and two at Kamakhya Railway Station. The initiative was launched on International Women’s Day on March 8.

The machines were inaugurated by Shalini Shrivastava, president of the Northeast Frontier Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation, in the presence of Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of NFR.
NFR stated that the machines will provide women passengers with access to essential hygiene products at discounted prices during travel. The initiative has been undertaken in collaboration with Sirona and Priya Communication.
The railway said the facility is part of efforts to strengthen menstrual hygiene facilities for women travellers and promote inclusive and women-friendly infrastructure in railway stations. NFR also stated that the facility will be expanded to other stations across the Northeast in subsequent phases.
