Dimapur, Sep. 4 (EMN):
General Manager of North East Frontal Railway (NFR), Anshul Gupta has said that the ongoing construction work of the Dimapur-Zubza railway line is likely to be completed by 2026 but the NFR is ‘trying hard to reduce the time period’.

Gupta, who is on a two-day visit to Nagaland, inspected the Zubza-Dhansiri site and Sukhovi station on Saturday.

Addressing journalists at Dimapur Railway Station, the GM said that the purpose of his visit was to inspect the progress of new rail line construction up to Zubza in Kohima, new stations, and to see how state government provide access quickly.

“Other issues and solutions were also discussed at the meeting,” he said.

“The main challenge was the terrain; otherwise there is no other problem as of now. All issues including land issues have been sorted out,” he added.

“Three tunnels have been completed so far and the meeting with the chief secretary was purposeful and successful. We are getting all help from the state official while the chief secretary was very helpful. We have also discussed when we reach Imphal, how to go beyond Imphal,” he shared about the outcome of his meeting.

Gupta said that discussions were also held with officials from other departments on how farm produce could be transported by the Railways.

He said he was not on a one-off visit but a routine one and would visit again.

“We will be introducing more trains at this station. Hopefully Covid situation will improve and more trains will move,” he said while expressing satisfaction with the facilities and amenities provided at the Dimapur Railway Station.

“Improvement is always welcome,” he said while affirming that the NFR would try to further improve the facilities, including the circulating area, parking system and catering arrangement which had been already discussed.

“You will see lot of improvements here,” he assured before boarding his train.
