DIMAPUR — The National Foundation for India (NFI), in collaboration with the SDG Coordination Centre (SDGCC) of the Planning and Transformation department, government of Nagaland, will organise a two-day in-house training for young leaders on June 27 and 28 in Kohima.
The two-day training is an effort to identify and bring together 80 dynamic young leaders from all the 16 districts of Nagaland, who would be trained on the ‘Role of young leaders in localising sustainable development goals in Nagaland, stated an update from NFI.
The objectives of the training included to enhance the understanding of young leaders on the sustainable development goals and the importance of on-ground actions at the local level; create a network of young leaders and equip them with skills, knowledge, and tools to build partnerships and collaboration particularly between the local government and civil society for effective SDG implementation; to provide young leaders with the knowledge and skills necessary to assess the progress towards SDG implementation in their respective districts and to share experiences and lessons learned with others; and to build the capacity of young leaders for disseminating the SDGs and Nagaland SDG Vision 2030 in their respective communities.
Biraj Patnaik, NFI executive director said, “We are privileged to be working with the SDGCC, the nodal agency of the government of Nagaland to ensure that the Nagaland Vision 2030 is achieved. Training young leaders from across the state on localising SDGs, to identify sustainable solutions to the development challenges that Nagaland is facing is the way forward.”
Talking about the collaboration and the training programme, Nayantara Sasikumar, additional secretary and OSD of the department of Planning and Transformation and the nodal officer of SDGCC, Nagaland, said, “The partnership seeks to support the SDG 17.17 (encourage effective partnerships) in advancing the SDGs which will open doors for diverse stakeholders who are keen on working alongside the state to strengthen the localisation of SDG in the state.”

The training would be organised by NFI under its project ‘Leave no one behind: building pathways for peace in the Northeast via engagement of CSO/ youth leaders,’ which is co-funded by the European Union.
It informed that the call for applications for the training would close on June 5 midnight. Interested candidates are asked to apply for the training through the project’s website.
