NFI conducts literary competition for students

The National Foundation for India (NFI) organised an essay writing and drawing competition on SDG 3 “Good health and well-being” for the students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Yakukie, Kohima.

DIMAPUR — To commemorate the upcoming International Youth Day celebration, the National Foundation for India (NFI) organised an essay writing and drawing competition on SDG 3 “Good health and well-being” for the students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Yakukie, Kohima, on August 9.

An update from NFI stated that the programme was organised as part of SDG campaigns, which were hosted by ARK Foundation and co-funded by the European Union.

On the occasion, Ketho Angami, president of ARK Foundation, spoke on the broader perspective of SDG and the various goals which the UN is striving to achieve by 2030. He made specific mention of SDG goal no. 3 (Good health and well-being) in the context of Nagaland and how the youth could be an integral part of the goal and contribute to the state’s response.

It stated that Shanchobeni, NFI field coordinator, facilitated the entire competition along with the teaching and other faculty members of the institution. The competition was conducted to commemorate International Youth Day with the objective to ensure better well-being and promote the physical and mental health of all ages, which is essential for sustainable development goals.

She stressed upon the need to address not only physical health but mental health and its surrounding attributes such as anxiety, depression, stress and frustration etc. Towards this, she encouraged the students to have a positive mindset and to ‘inspire and aspire.’

A total of 26 students comprising 13 each participated in both the essay writing and drawing competitions.

In the essay writing competition, Akitoli Shake of Class 12, Sneha of Class 11 and Janatal of Class 12 were declared the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners respectively.

In the drawing competition, Sylvia Saneinuo of Class 11, Hiya of Class 11 and Dzuzevinu of Class 11 secured the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

Prizes were handed over by the school’s principal, MP Shivhare, in the presence of all the students.
