NFHRCC resolves to complete Doyang bridge in 2021

Dimapur, Feb. 10 (EMN): With the accomplishment of almost 70.66% in the construction of Doyang Bridge at Liphayan, the Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) has endorsed the resolution held at Hotel Japfu, Kohima, on February 5 to complete the same within 2021.

A statement from NFHRCC joint issued by its convenor Supu Jamir, general secretary W Lemba Chang and the assistant general secretary Chenithung Humtsoe has urged upon all the stakeholders to give their best wisdom and cooperate towards making the historic project a success.

It stated that a combined inspection team comprising of NFHRCC officials along with the concerned department led by EE PWD (R&B), contractor, apex tribal hohos and local CSOs visited the Doyang Bridge construction site at Governor’s camp, Liphanyan on February 10 to assess the latest status and progress of the project.

During the meeting, it reaffirmed the early resolution that any issues/ clarification in regards to the foothills road construction should be made known and clarified through the knowledge of the tribal committee members to ventilate all relevant grievances to the competent authorities for any redressal and necessary action.

It also resolved that NFHRCC would take immediate necessary steps for the construction of the bridge in identifying the “Chargeable Head” for the work with the government. NFHRCC has also reaffirmed its earlier resolutions to release bills to the contractor on the fulfilment of the work progress and completion.

It also resolved to appeal to all elected MLAs to participate in a positive and constructive debate in regards to the foothills road. NFHRCC further reaffirmed its earlier resolution on restriction of collection of stone boulders/ chips within the limit of 1 km from both sides of the bridge construction including upstream and down streams. In this regards, it has entrusted the Lotha hoho to enforce the necessary instructions
Meanwhile, NFHRCC has acknowledged the New Koro Village Council for providing lunch and snacks to the visiting team.
