Dimapur, March 18 (EMN): With an aim to complete the foothill road at the earliest, the Nagaland Foothill Road Co-ordination Committee (NFHRCC) passed several resolutions at a joint meeting with the contractors of the project, Divisional EEs of PWD (R&B), Young Naga Action Committee on foothill road and Office bearers of Dimapur-based tribal Hohos on Friday in Dimapur.

An update from NFHRCC informed that the house resolved that no individuals or groups will be allowed to collect tax or any form of donations from the contractors of the foothill road and Doyang Bridge; in the event of anybody indulging in activities, the committee will take it up seriously.

The house resolved to mitigate the foothill road construction work according to the specifications. Contractors have been restricted from subletting work to any third party agencies or partake as a contractor in order to maintain quality.

It decided to request the department not to deduct any percentage, except the compulsory statutory fees and the final bill released only after a joint inspection by the department and the committee. It also decided to invite other Naga tribes such as Angamis, Chakhesangs and Pochury to be a part of the committee.

The house resolved to conduct a joint tour of the entire stretch from Niuland to Tizit within this month. It also said that misunderstanding or dispute arising while executing the work should be immediately communicated to the NFHRCC in order to avoid any unwanted situations.

While reaffirming that the said road can’t be taken as border road or border demarcation, the house resolved to acknowledge the active participation of all the tribal hohos, Young Nagas Action Committee on Foothills Road, ENSF and CNSA for their unflinching support to the “historic road”.

The house also resolved to acknowledge the state government led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Dy CM Y Patton and department of PWD (Road & Bridges) for their collective support to make the road a reality.
