Dimapur, Sep. 12 (EMN): Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) has called off the proposed first phase of indefinite agitation following the decision of the state government to repair the foothill road on September 10.

NFHRCC in a joint meeting with Dimapur based civil society organisation on Sunday resolved to keep the scheduled agitation on September 13 in “abeyance in the greater interest of the people till an agreement is arrived at between the NFHRCC and Concerned department with regard to execution of the pliable road,” a statement informed.

While appreciating Chief Minister Nephiu Rio and Dy. Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton for allotting the necessary funds despite financial constraints, it stated that the construction of the foothill road had to be started on the ‘onset of this working season 2021’.

It also urged the Government of India to declare the Trans Nagaland Expressway (mega project) from Khelma to Tizit at the earliest. During the meeting, the house therefore resolved to endorse the Committee to apprise the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and “to approach the PMO at the earliest to expedite the relentless efforts made by the State Govt.”

NFHRCC further extended its appreciation to Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur, Chang Union Dimapur, Lotha Hoho Dimapur, Konyak Union Dimapur, Khiamniungan Union, Dimapur Phom Union Dimapur, Sangtam Union Dimapur, Apex Lotha HOHO Wokha, the Western Sumi HOHO, Western Yimkhium Hoho, Nagaland Zeliang Peoples’ Organisation, CNTC, ENPO, CNSA, Densu, ZLSU, Dayo, LYOD and WSYF for their support on issue.
