Dimapur, July 27 (EMN): Siliguri junction, Alipurduar junction, Rangiya, Guwahati and New Tinsukia stations are being taken up for redevelopment by N.F. Railway at a cost of about INR 65 crore. The works which are planned to be completed by December 2018 will provide an enhanced and richer experience to the passengers.  The emphasis will be on having visible change in the stations without unnecessary construction all over, within the sanctioned work costing INR 10-15 crore for each station.  According to a press statement from the chief public relations officer NF Railways/Maligaon, the plan includes improvement of facade of the station building, circulating area, platform surface, washable apron, proper signage, LED lighting to brighten up all areas etc.  The proposal for the same was sent to Railway Board and administrative clearance has already been obtained. It is to be mentioned that several railway stations in the country will soon have their own jingles to greet passengers and customised selfie points.  As for the soft development, Divisional Railway Manager will first seek help of consultants for architectural plans and then take feedback from local stakeholders.  At larger station, Directors will be nodal officer for execution of the project and at smaller ones, without directors, officer from any discipline will be appointed as the nodal officer.
