NF Railway staffs awarded for exceptional devotion towards duty

Dimapur, Nov. 30 (EMN): Nine railway staff namely Prasant Kr Modak, Md Akramul Haque, Buddhi Ram Basumatary, Lakshmi Thakur, Amit Kr Singh, Ashok Kr Modi, Chandan Kumar, Shri Sujit Prasad and Khageshwar Singh were awarded on Nov. 30 by Lokesh Narayan, Addl. General Manager, N.F. Railway for showing exceptional devotion towards duty. This was stated in a press release issued by the Chief Public Relations Officer NF Railway Maligaon. Prasant Kr Modak (Loco Pilot) and Md Akramul Haque (Asst Loco Pilot) based at New Jalpaiguri while on duty by 02261 express train on 27.05.2017 detected rail fracture and controlled their train at KM 216/6 between Adina and Eklakhi stations thereby averting a major mishap. Both of them were awarded with a cash award of Rs. 2,000/- each in recognition of their meritorious service, stated the release. Buddhi Ram Basumatary, Station Suptd. of Kokrajhar station while on duty dated 09.09.2017 detected hot axle in wagon no SEBCN 108141 of a goods train and took immediate steps to stop the train. Thus a probable accident was averted. In recognition of his devotion towards duty he was awarded as “Man of the month September – 2017” certificate along with a cash award of Rs. 5,000/. The release further mentions that Lakshmi Thakur, Sr Section Engineer/Loco/Katihar and Amit Kr Singh Chief Loco Inspector/Katihar, Ashok Kr Modi Station Manager / Katihar and Chandan Kumar Pointsman / Katihar showed alertness during a fire incident in earth mover machine in line number eight at Katihar yard on 17.09.2017 and shifted two engines in the vicinity of the fire, thus averted major mishap. In recognition of their devotion towards duty they were also awarded as “Man of the month September – 2017” certificate along-with a cash award of Rs. 5,000/- each. Sujit Prasad (Loco Pilot) and Khageshwar Singh ( Sr Asst Loco Pilot) based at Alipurduar Jn while on duty on a goods train suddenly observed a big elephant on railway track at KM 29/4-5 between Sevok and Gulma station on 23.10.2017. They immediately stopped the train by applying emergency brake thereby saving the elephant and a probable derailment. In recognition of their service and devotion towards duty they were awarded as “Man of the month October – 2017” certificate along-with a cash award of Rs. 5,000/- each, stated the release.
