Eri silk rearing training held at Tsiemekhuma Bawe
DIMAPUR — Under the aegis of the Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), the village adoption committee for Tsiemekhuma Bawe, under 11 Northern Angami II, organised a training session for the villagers on Monday. The training, focused on eri silk rearing and castor oil making, was conducted by the Sericulture department. Additionally, the Art and Culture department donated a bookshelf along with some books to the students’ union of the village, according to a DIPR report.
Girls’ marathon held in Tening
DIMAPUR — The Tening Town Administration organised a girls’ marathon as part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative, focusing on the theme “Run the Race… Raise the Girl.” The event was exclusively for girls aged between 11 and 18 and was conducted on January 27. According to an update from DIPR, ADC Tening, Lemlila Sangtam, addressed the participants during the event. She urged the girls to give their best in life, emphasising that they are the future gems of society. Sangtam further encouraged the participants never to lose faith and purpose in life, urging them to pursue what is good and strive to reach for the stars. The event concluded with the distribution of certificates and prizes to the winners and participants.
NSCN/GPRN (K) mourns demise of member
DIMAPUR — NSCN/GPRN (Khango) condoled the demise of Siyang Chang, Tatar of Chang Region of Tuensang village, who passed away on January 25 at Tuensang village. It stated in a condolence note that Chang served the nation wholeheartedly with full commitment and patriotism for the cause of the Naga nation until his death. The NSCN/GPRN (K) expressed deepest sorrow and sympathy to the bereaved family members, praying to God to grant them solace and comfort during this grief time and that the departed soul may rest in eternal peace.
Rangers Club Kohima cleans Kisama
DIMAPUR — The Rangers Club Kohima organised a voluntary cleanliness drive at Kisama, the Naga Heritage Village, on January 26. The drive was conducted under the theme ‘Clean for Beauty Kisama’. According to an update, the objective behind the initiative was to encourage all visitors to Kisama to maintain cleanliness and help keep the heritage village clean.
NSCN (R) PRO surrenders in Mon
DIMAPUR — A public relations officer (PRO) of the NSCN (Reformation) is said to have surrendered to the Assam Rifles (AR) along with one .22 mm pistol and two live rounds at Aboi in Mon district. An update from the AR said that the security forces convinced the cadre to surrender and join the mainstream after proactively pursuing him for few months.
