- NFHRCC inspects
Foothills Road work in Niuland
- DIMAPUR — The
Nagaland Foothill Road Construction Committee (NFHRCC) undertook a joint
inspection with the departmental officials at the ongoing Foothills Road
construction in the Niuland sector on April 15. In a press statement, it stated
that the road widening project and a 36.58 m (120 ft) span galvanised
double-lane modular steel bridge over the River Dadi are progressing well as
per the technical specifications, with about 20% of the physical works
completed and about 40% of the cross drainage and protection walls finished.
Therefore, the joint inspection team urged the concerned department to release
the appropriate funds accordingly.

- DC Dimapur announces
driving test schedule
- DIMAPUR — The
Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, has issued a circular notifying
shortlisted candidates to report for the driving test at the District Transport
Office, ISTT Complex, Chümoukedima. The test is scheduled from April 22 to
April 24. According to the schedule, candidates with form serial numbers 01 to
194 will appear on April 22, those with serial numbers 195 to 384 on April 23,
and those with serial numbers 385 to 616 on April 24. All candidates are
directed to report at 8:00 AM on their respective dates at the test venue. They
must bring their original driving license and arrange their own two-wheeler or
scooty for the driving test. The list of rejected candidates, along with
reasons for rejection, will be displayed on the notice board of the DC office,
Dimapur.
- Dimapur DPDB meeting
scheduled for April 21
- DIMAPUR — The
District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting for Dimapur district
for the month of April is scheduled to be held on April 21 at 11 AM at the DC
conference hall, Dimapur. According to a DIPR report, the Deputy Commissioner
and Vice Chairman of the DPDB Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, has requested all
members to attend the meeting.
- Japfu Christian
College holds ‘Matsuri’
- DIMAPUR — Japfu
Christian College celebrated the 1st Matsuri on April 15 and 16. According to
an update, Professor Visakhonu Hibo, principal of JCC, in her address stated
that ‘Matsuri’ was a concept introduced to instill beliefs and values through
exposure and opportunities and to equip students with skills and knowledge. Dr.
Hovithal Sothu, project director of Task Force for Music and Arts, as the guest
of honour, reminded the students of the importance of success and failure in
our lives and encouraged them to enjoy life in the best possible way. He urged
the students to be the change they want to see. He also proclaimed that the
music, art, and entertainment industries are vast, and those who excel in these
fields have many opportunities. The two-day event unfolded with many colleges
from Kohima and Dimapur attending the celebration and over 100 individual
participants from various parts of Nagaland competing in a variety of
activities.
- St. Xavier Shamator
concludes annual sports meet
- DIMAPUR — St.
Xavier Hr. Sec. School, Shamator's annual sports and games meet concluded on
April 15. According to an update, the closing ceremony was attended by the
guest of honour, Col. Archit Goswami SM, Commandant of the 14th Assam Rifles,
Shamator, who congratulated the students on their outstanding performances,
enthusiasm, and sportsmanship throughout the event.
- Food safety
certification training conducted in Wokha
- DIMAPUR — The
Food Safety Administration, Kohima Zone, organised a Food Safety Training and
Certification (FoSTaC) for food business operators at the Office of the Chief
Medical Officer, Wokha, on Wednesday. According to an update, there were two
batches for the training, and the participants from both batches were
home-based food business operators who specialise in baking, pickles, etc. The
training partner was M/S Aroma Shiksha Evam Samithi, Korba, Chhattisgarh, and
the FSSAI empanelled trainer was Dr. Anup Kumar Tiwari.
- Sempfünyu Clan
re-erects Katsun Tso monument
- DIMAPUR — As a
tribute to Katsun and a reminder to the younger generation of his legacy in
Rengma Naga history, the Sempfünyu Clan on Wednesday re-erected the Katsun Tso
stone monument—widely known as Katsun Tso Kesen. According to an update, the
event was attended by representatives of the Rengma Hoho, Kasha Daho, Kasha
Lowrin, and village leaders. It was mentioned that Katsun, the
great-grandfather of Sempfünyu, along with some Nagas, came to settle at
Khwenphen, the first Rengma village. During his time in Khwenphen, he was known
and acknowledged as a rich and prosperous person with a multitude of mithuns.
Admiring his wealth and fame, his friends from the neighbouring villages of the
Angamis and the Sumis came to count his mithuns but failed, declaring them
uncountable. As a testament to his wealth and status, he erected a stone
monument known as 'Katsun Tso'.
