SAYO rescues 70-year-old trekker
DIMAPUR — The Southern Angami Youth Organisations (SAYO), in collaboration with the Southern Angami Tour Guide Council (SATGC), rescued a 70-year-old woman trekker from West Bengal on December 11 after she suffered a fall on her way to Dzükou Valley and reportedly dislocated her hip. According to officials, the incident occurred during the trek when the elderly tourist slipped along the trail, the SAYO stated in an update. The rescuers improvised a stretcher using a bedsheet to transport her. Due to the difficult terrain, she also had to be carried on the back at certain stretches of the trail. A physiotherapist assessed her condition and she was later taken back to the homestay. Further, to ensure trekker safety and prevent incidents, visitors must take SAYO-registered guides, the update stated.
LBCA annual conference on Dec. 13-14
DIMAPUR — The 103rd Lotha Baptist Churches Association (LBCA) annual delegates’ conference will be hosted by the Lotha Baptist Church Diphupar ‘B’ on December 13 and the 14th, on the theme ‘Arise together in love.’ Rev. LK Tsanglao, Pastor of Longsa Baptist Church, Wokha, and Rev. N Longshi Kithan, Pastor of Samyan Baptist Church, Wokha, will be the main speakers of the conference, an update stated. Around 1000 delegates from more than 100 churches under the LBCA are expected to attend the conference, led by the LBCA president Rev. Ezanbemo Odyuo and executive secretary Rev. Dr. Renbi Rangthang.

NNC/FGN clarifies on Kohima extortion
DIMAPUR — The NNC/FGN Lotha Region under the leadership of kedahge Zhopra Vero has clarified that 71-year-old Mathungo Ovung, deputy kilonser of NNC/FGN, who was arrested on December 8 in Kohima on charges of “forceful extortion”, is not associated with the Zhopra-led NNC/FGN. In a statement, the NNC/FGN also warned that any person or imposter tarnishing the image of the NNC/FGN will be dealt with “strict and strong stern actions.”
NSCN/GPRN (K-V) condoles kilonser’s demise
DIMAPUR — The NSCN/GPRN (Khango-Vusshe) has condoled the untimely demise of Nasu Chang, cabinet kilonser, who passed away on December 11 in his hometown Tuensang. In a condolence message, the NSCN/GPRN (K-V) joined the Naga national service in 1993 as a young regional worker and rose to the rank of a cabinet kilonser, and served with utmost sincerity and dedication. “Nasu Chang’s contributions to the revolutionary movement, his courage in challenging injustice, and his role in advancing the rights and dignity of the Naga people will forever remain etched in our collective memory,” the message read.
