MPC, Tir Yimyim condole demise of Imsong's wife
DIMAPUR — The Mokokchung Press Club (MPC) has condoled the passing of S Aienla, wife of our MPC member and senior journalist Aso Imsong at Tir YimYim, who passed away on Thursday. In a condolence message, the club stated that Aienla served faithfully as the child education director of Chuchuyimpang Baptist Church, “where her life and service touched many young lives. Her dedication, compassion, and quiet strength will be remembered with gratitude.” “She leaves behind her loving husband and two children—a son and a daughter,” the message read. In a separate message, the editor and staff of Tir Yimyim also condoled the demise of Aienla. “Late SAienla was not only a supportive and caring wife for her husband and family, she was very dedicated servant of the Lord too as pastor in christian education ministry in Chuchuyimpang Baptist Church,” it stated.
ACID marks International Migrants Day
DIMAPUR — Assisi Centre for Integrated development (ACID), in collaboration with National Domestic Workers Movement (NDWM) Nagaland Region, commemorated International Migrants Day on Thursday on the theme ‘One city many journey – Honouring migrants and shaping a shared future.’ According to an update, Sr. Jobina, UFS Director of ACID, highlighted the significance of the day. The speaker of the day, advocate Priya Shyam, enlightened the participants on the theme and emphasised the challenges faced by the migrants in unfamiliar cities. She also stressed the importance of safe migration. Around 130 participants attended the programme.

DC Mon informs on firing practice
DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner of Mon, Wennyei Konyak, has informed the general public of Mon town that the 42 Assam Rifles will be conducting firing and explosive practice at the Unit Firing Range, Tactical Headquarters Mon from December 16 to the 31st from 7 am to 7 pm. “During the said period, loud sound of firing and explosion may be heard in and around Mon town and adjoining areas. Therefore, the public is advised not to panic, as it is part of routine training,” a DIPR report stated. Further, residents have been advised to avoid movement in the vicinity of the firing range/camp during the period to ensure safety of children and livestock.
Nagaland govt. notifies 19 local languages for GDS recruitment
DIMAPUR — The Government of Nagaland has officially notified 19 local languages and dialects spoken in the state for the purpose of engaging Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) under the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communication, Government of India. A notification, issued by the Home Department on December 16 stated that the identification of local languages is in line with the requirements of the Department of Posts for certifying language proficiency among GDS applicants. The languages identified include Angami, Ao, Chang, Chakhesang, Konyak, Khiamniungan, Lotha, Phom, Pochury, Rengma, Sumi, Sangtam, Tikhir, Yimkhiung, Zeliang, Garo, Mikir, Kuki and Kachari. For the purpose of certification of proficiency in these languages and dialects, the deputy commissioners of the respective districts have been notified as the certifying authorities within their jurisdictions.
