  • V Samuel Holo elected new NTC chairperson

  • DIMAPUR — Subsequent to the resignation tendered by the former chairperson of the Niuland Town Council (NTC) on health grounds, the Niuland Town Council elected V Samuel Holo as its new chairperson on April 15. According to an update, the nomination of the new chairperson was supported by seven of the nine elected members.

  • Janjati Shiksha Samiti mourns demise of Swuro

  • DIMAPUR — Janjati Shiksha Samiti (Vidya Bharati) Nagaland expressed deep condolence and paid tribute on the demise of the 106-year-old Poswuyi Swuro. Describing him as “a fellow soldier” from Ruzazho village, the Janjati Shiksha Samiti Nagaland said in a message that he was associated with the Azad Hind Fauj under the leadership of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose during the Second World War.

  • St. Xavier Shamator holds annual sports meet

  • DIMAPUR — The annual sports and games meet of St. Xavier Hr. Sec. School, Shamator, was held on April 10, with the motto "Arise, Compete, Conquer." According to an update, it was inaugurated by the chief guest, S Keoshu Yimchunger, MLA and Advisor for Youth Resource and Sports.

  • DC Mokokchung notifies on Satishiba village recognition

  • DIMAPUR — The Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Thsuvisie Phoji, in a notification, has informed that Satishiba village, under the administrative jurisdiction of the ADC Mangkolemba in Mokokchung district, is applying for village recognition. Objections, if any, regarding the recognition of the said village may be lodged with the office within 30 days from the issue of the notification; otherwise, the matter will be treated as 'no objection' and forwarded to the government for necessary action. The notification specifies the area of land as 1001.01 acres (or 4,35,64,356 square feet) and outlines the boundaries: North – Lakhuni, South – Japu, East – Longjemdang, and West – Longpayimsen/Watiyim.

  • Holidays declared for govt. employees in Kohima

  • DIMAPUR — The Home department, General Administrative Branch II, has notified that the Governor of Nagaland has declared April 19 (the third Saturday) and May 17 (the third Saturday) as holidays for state government offices located in Kohima. According to an update, these holidays are in lieu of the working days on February 8 (the second Saturday) due to the 6th session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly and on March 22 (the fourth Saturday) due to the financial year closing, as declared in this department's notifications of March 5 and March 21, respectively.

  • Vamuzo Memorial Town Hall hiring fee revised

  • DIMAPUR — The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Chozuba, Dr. Diana Patton, issued a notification on April 14, stating that the hiring fee rate for Vamuzo Memorial Town Hall, Chozuba, under Phek district, has been revised to INR 2,000 per day. The notification further stated that applicants wishing to use the Vamuzo Memorial Town Hall for government or non-government activities are directed to apply one week in advance to the office of the ADC for allotment.

  • Two selected for Tseminyu SDEO MTS posts

  • DIMAPUR — In continuation of the office advertisement dated February 24 last, and the addendum dated March 5 last for two posts of MTS under the Establishment of the Sub Divisional Education Officer (SDEO), Tseminyu, Department of School Education (DoSE), Nagaland, the DoSE has notified that, based on the marks secured in the recruitment held on March 28 and the consequent government administrative approval dated April 8, candidates Khebi Tsela and Gwachulo Kent have been selected for appointment.

  • MGM College organises exposure trip

  • DIMAPUR — The department of Sociology, in collaboration with the department of History, MGM College, organised an exposure trip to Poilwa T Khel Resort on April 12. According to an update, the primary aim was to encourage experiential learning, foster faculty-student bonding, and offer a refreshing retreat from academic routines.

  • Civil services guidance programme held at Fazl Ali College

  • DIMAPUR — Fazl Ali College career guidance and counselling cell, in collaboration with Imperial IAS Academy, organised a UPSC and NPSC guidance programme on Tuesday for the final-year BA and BSc students. According to an update, Achumi Yanthan, centre manager of Imperial Academy, was the resource person and divided the students into two groups: one for students interested in competitive examinations and another for those uncertain about their future careers. Both groups were provided with counselling and guidance by expert members of the academy, followed by a Q&A session. Additionally, the Imperial Academy gifted a scholarship certificate worth INR 25,000 to all the students present, offering them a INR 25,000 discount upon joining the coaching institute, and donated UPSC and NPSC books to the college library.

  • Food safety training conducted for Tseminyu businesses

  • DIMAPUR — The Food Safety Administration, Kohima Zone, organised a Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) programme for food business operators at Town Hall, Tseminyu, on Tuesday. According to an update, there were two batches for the training, both for manufacturers. The participants were home-based food business operators involved in baking, pickle-making, and similar businesses. The training partner was M/S Aroma Shiksha Evam Samithi, Korba, Chhattisgarh, and the FSSAI empanelled trainer was Dr. Anup Kumar Tiwari.

  • DGC holds integrated career summit

  • DIMAPUR — An integrated career summit was held at Dimapur Government College (DGC) on Tuesday, focusing on different career pathways. According to an update, it was a first-of-its-kind initiative by DGC, with a survey and questionnaire initially delivered to the students to choose their preferred career. In line with this, 16 resource persons were engaged to provide their professional, specialised, and technical knowledge to 6th semester students in various careers, ranging from civil services, academics, uniformed services, performing arts, content creation, entrepreneurship, church ministry, event management, interior designing, nursing and counselling, hospitality and the corporate sector, aviation, photography, sports, law, contracting, fashion designing, banking, and more.
