NLA Speaker, NPF condole former minister Nkhao’s demise
DIMAPUR — Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Sharingain Longkumer, and the Naga People’s Front (NPF), have condoled the death of former Minister Nkhao Lotha, who passed away on Thursday in Dimapur. In a condolence message, the Speaker stated that Nkhao’s life was marked by a long and distinguished career in public service. “Throughout his life, Nkhao Lotha remained a humble and dedicated leader, deeply connected to his roots and to the people he represented. His invaluable contribution, both as a discipline Officer and as a responsible legislator will be remembered with gratitude and respect,” the message read. In a separate message, the NPF stated that Nkhao was elected to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly on NPF ticket during the 2003–2008 tenure and served the state with dedication and responsibility. “His contribution to public life and governance will be remembered with respect and gratitude,” the party stated.
BJP Nagaland lauds FNTA deal
DIMAPUR — The BJP Nagaland has expressed gratitude to the central government, Nagaland government and the Eastern Nagaland Legislators’ Union, for the historic signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on the formation of the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA). In a press release, BJP Nagaland president Benjamin Yepthomi stated that the collective efforts have fulfilled the long-cherished aspirations of the eastern Naga people, paving the way for inclusive development, sustained progress, and lasting empowerment for our eastern brothers and sisters. “I also extend my appreciation to the leaders of the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO), Eastern Nagaland Women Organisation (ENWO), Eastern Nagaland Students’ Federation (ENSF), and all stakeholders who contributed tirelessly and constructively by pursuing dialogue in a spirit of cooperation, ensuring that the talks reached a logical and meaningful conclusion,” it added.
Noklak DPDB meeting on Feb. 11
DIMAPUR — The district administration, Noklak, has informed that the monthly DPDB meeting for the month of February will be held on February 11 at 11am at the deputy commissioner’s conference hall, Noklak. All the district planning & development board members have been informed to attend the meeting without fail, a DIPR report stated.

DIMAPUR — The NSCN/GPRN-K (Michael) has terminated the service of Kelvin Mech of Kachari affairs on ground of indiscipline and misappropriation of government fund. In a termination notice, the group stated that, after a thorough review process, “the organisation determined that the individual's conduct was detrimental since Kelvin Mech is a habitual offender and despite the government policy of rehabilitating for personal growth, He continued his misconduct and actions inconsistent with the organisations' value and code of conduct.” “Whosoever shelters these defectors shall be holding their principle in peril,” the notice stated.
ZSUD inducts news office bearers
DIMAPUR — The Zeliang Students' Union Dimapur (ZSUD) inducted new office bearers for the 2026-2028 tenure at an induction programme held at the Zeliang Community Welfare Society Building, Dimapur, on Tuesday. The new team includes president Kewitingwang Newmai, vice president Ngaulubui Namdau, general secretary Loiyingle Zeliang, finance secretary Lungdangaule, social and cultural secretary Reku Reunim, assistant general secretary Irangsing Mbung, and games and sports secretary Mesenthui, the union informed in a press release. The programme was chaired by Ngaulubui Namdau, cultural secretary, ZSUD; invocation was pronounced by Lungdangaule, general secretary; while the welcome address was delivered by Kewitingwang Newmai, vice president. The general secretary’s report was also presented during the programme.
