NSF to protest
The Naga Students’ Federation under the aegis of North East Students’ Organization will be organising a sit-in protest in front of the Raj Bhavan on May 21 from 11:00 am till 1:00 pm against the central government proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016.
Accounts committee postpones meeting
The chairman of the Public Accounts Committee has informed that the first meeting of the committee which was scheduled to be conducted on May 23 has been postponed till further notice. This was in view of the forthcoming Lok Sabha by-election.
Dimapur BJP meets
Dimapur, May 17 (EMN): The Dimapur district of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) group conducted a meeting along with the president and general secretary of Mandals on May 17 in Dimapur. A press release from the party informed on Thursday. During the meeting, it deliberated on the working systems of the party in regard to setting up of mandal, and booth level coordination committee for the forthcoming Lok Sabha by-election. The party was stated to have reaffirmed to work sincerely for the PDA’s candidate, Tokheho Yepthomi.
Paid holiday on May 28, day of polling
The Home Commissioner of Nagaland, R Ramakrishnan informed that the forthcoming Lok Sabha by-election scheduled to be held on May 28, the day of polling, have been declared as paid holiday. The holiday will be applicable to all the employees of government and private establishments, and shops within the state so as to enable them to exercise their franchise. Those electors, including casual workers working outside the constituency concerned shall also be entitled to the benefit of a Paid Holiday. However, the holiday shall not be applicable to any elector whose absence may cause danger or substantial loss in respect of the employment in which he is engaged. Department of Information and Public Relations informed on Thursday.
Requisitioned vehicle owners told to report
The deputy commissioner of Mon, Thavaseelan K, has informed all vehicles requisitioned for Lok Sabha by-poll duty in Mon district to submit their vehicles at the Local Ground in Mon at 10:00 am on May 24. Stringent action will be initiated against defaulters under relevant sections of election law, the Department of Information and Public Relations informed on Thursday.
ENSF to meet on May 19
The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has convened its presidential meeting on May 19 at 11:00 am at the Duda guest house in Kohima. All its six federating units president are requested to attend the meeting.
CSU convenes meeting on May 19
The Chakhesang Students’ Union informed that the first union assembly for the tenure 2018-20 and ‘change of guard’ of the assembly secretariat has been scheduled to be held at the Phek Town Council Hall on May 19 at 11:00 am. The union requested all its units and sub-ordinate bodies to attend the union assembly.
Wetsern Sumi Hoho calls for meeting
The Western Sumi Hoho has called for a joint meeting with all its frontal organizations along with all nine area chairmen on May 18 at 10 am at its office at chekiye in Dimapur. All the concern members of western and office bearers are requested to attend the said meeting.
School Education informs about updated seniority list
The directorate of School Education in Kohima has informed its districts offices and the principals about the updated Tentative Seniority List of officers of Government Higher Secondary Schools Cadres as part of School Education department had been published on May 11. All DEOs and Principals were informed to collect the copy. For any objection and complaints, it may be submit through representation supported by documentary proof to the appointing authority within a month from the date of publication.
