New Upper Khomi VC takes charge
DIMAPUR — The declaration programme of the newly constituted village council of Upper Khomi, Phek district, for the tenure 2026–2031 was held on Saturday at Rülethi, Upper Khomi Village district. The newly elected Village Council Members (VCMs) introduced themselves and formally accepted their responsibilities. The oath-taking ceremony was administered by Kulupoyi V Vadeo, while prayer and blessings were pronounced by Husapa Ruho, pastor. The newly elected members of the Upper Khomi Village Council are Sakhohu Vadeo (chairman); Shevoto Vezuh (secretary); VCMs include Shevezo Tsutso, Thupuku Nakro, Mudosahu Nienu, Vevocu Vezuh, Rikuyi Tsutso and Bito Nienu; with Vevezo Curha as computer assistant. According to an update, Makhu Curha, head GB, led the proceedings. An invocation was offered by Zanehü Curha, prayer chairman, followed by a welcome address delivered by Nuveyi Huzhu, GB.
NMC team visits Phek
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Medical Council (NMC), led by president Dr. Puse Liegise along with executive members Dr. Vikeyie, Dr. Kezhalezo Angami and Dr. Kevilhulie Meyase, visited Phek on May 1. Accompanied by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Phek, Dr. K. Chitale Hiese, the team paid a courtesy call on Deputy Commissioner Rhosietho Ngouri at his office, an update stated. The council also held a meeting with the district’s doctors at the CMO conference hall, where the NMC president outlined the purpose of the visit and explained the council’s functions. Emphasis was placed on mandatory registration of all allopathic doctors and timely renewal every five years, as required by law. The team highlighted the importance of ethical medical practices and compliance with the Nagaland Health Care Establishment Act. It further noted that organizers must obtain prior approval from district health authorities before conducting medical camps involving doctors from outside the state. The team also visited the district hospital.
Anglo-Zeme dictionary released
DIMAPUR — The Anglo-Zeme dictionary, also known as Zeme Samriak, was released at NZPO conference hall, Jalukie, Peren district, on April 28. According to an update, the dictionary was released by chairman of Zeme Literature Board North East India, Koheuteung Chuilo, who was also the chief host of the programme. The programme, attended by officials of the Zeme Council of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland, commenced with invocation prayer offered by Alan Pame, while the dictionary was dedicated by Rev. Dr. Mongzeung Mpom, president of Nagaland Baptist Pastors’ Union and president, ZBCC Nagaland. The dictionary was compiled by N Haisoyi Ndang and Isamrangbe Pame, with inclusive illustrations as per the resolution of Zeme Literature Board North East India, it stated. On the occasion, an obituary was also offered to late Raitu Elu Ndang, pioneer of Zeme Samriak.
