Newly inducted Asha workers trained in Zunheboto

Dimapur, Feb. 25 (EMN): The district health society, Zunheboto organised an induction training programme for 21 new members of accredited social health activist (Asha) from Feb. 18 to 22nd. Kashili (surname not provided), Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM), and Tozheli (surname not provided), ANM, DCM and Asha co-ordinator, were the resource persons of the event.
According to a statement issued by Shekho Sophie, District Media Officer CMO Office, Zunheboto, Asha workers were provided training on various skills like classifying and management of fever and diarrhoea (HBNC), roles during Village Health and Nutrition Day (VHND), intervene in case of violence against women- case study, HIV/Aids, malaria, Mother and Child Tracking System (MCTS), and malnutrition.
The participants were also shown short documentary on child health and “A Step at a Time” maternal health during the induction training programme. Various information, education and communication (IEC) materials were distributed during the training, according to the statement.
Dr. K. Akaho Sema, dy. chief medical officer, Zunheboto encouraged the Asha workers and described them as a “bridge between the ANM and the community.” He also urged them to be sincere and dedicated besides briefing them on various incentives that can be availed for their service to the community.
