New Market XI make thrashing comeback, create three records

One of the favourites and popular local team New Market XI today made an astounding come back to the game of soccer by setting three records after missing out last year’s edition of Classic Club in Kohima.New Market XI is the only team which participates in all the tournaments held in Kohima and has earned the fame of being the popular team by clinching several titles in the past, but it failed to participate in the tourney last year.
Nonetheless, the revival of the team in this edition of the Classic Cup today marked with creation of three records, which include breaking the highest goal scored against a team, highest goal scored by an individual and fastest goal of the tourney so far.
Playing under a clear sky with no sign of rain, the second day of the tourney at Kohima Local Ground witnessed rains of goal with a total of 28 straight goals being recorded in the three matches of the day.
It was the last match of the day which broke the 2011 record of 12-0 scored by Songsang Football Club against Spearhead FC as New Market XI blanked Cakou United Sporting Club by 15 goals.
The second record of highest goal scored by an individual ever in a single match of soccer tourney was created by Rhitsho (11) with eight goals, which also include the double hat-trick. He is the second person to have scored a second hat-trick after Yanshalo of Kohima Komets.
Stout but swift player Haotingmang Thomson (7) also scored three goals for the team to become the third hat-trick scorer of this tourney. He opened the flood gates by scoring within the first minute of the match followed by the 10th and 12th goal in the 52nd and 56th minute of play.
Rhitso started scoring with second goal in the 5th minute and continued with third and fourth for a hat-trick in the 11th and 30th minute before the half-time, but continued within a minute into breather with sixth, seventh and eighth for the double hat-trick and then the last two goals in the 54th and 57th minute.
Other scorers for the team were Mhasilie Krose (8) in the 34th minute, Kekukhrielie (16) in 51st minute while Velukho Rakho (11) sealed the scoreboard with the fourteenth and fifteenth goal in the 58th and 50th minute of play.
Notably, the entire game was purely one-sided with Cakou USC barely managing to cross the strong defence line of New Market.
Earlier in the first match, Vision Football Club defeated Young Guns Club, Tseminyu with a margin of 5-0. Pumgeying Thou scored in the 16th minute, Khulto Khazo scored second and third in the 28th and 61st minute, Kevi-othii Richa and Zayievoto Tetso scored in the 67th and injury added time.
Prege FC defeated Khwüma FC by 7-1 in the second match. Senyilo scored first in the 4th minute, Keneinguzo second in 11th minute, Medoneituo in 15th minute, Lhouviphrelie in 26th, Avilhou in 57th, Keduoneizo in 66th minute while Medoneituo sealed the match with his second goal and seventh for the team in the 70th minute.
The only face saver for Khwüma FC was scored by Neizekhoto in the 18th minute of play.
