Kohima, May 10 (EMN):
Amid the lockdown, New Market colony (Ward 8) observed Mother’s Day with Zhabu Gwirie, pastor of Union Christian Revival Church, New Market, as speaker while the colony members took part by remaining indoors on Sunday in Kohima.

The message, which was delivered through a public addressing system, resonated across the locality on early morning. Besides conveying Mother’s Day greetings, the pastor cited various instances of a good mother from the Scripture.

He quoted words of famous people such as American evangelist Dr. Billy Graham and the French statesman Napoleon Bonaparte, who were very dear to their mothers.

Gwirie stated that role of a mother in the family determines the quality of a society in the long run. Stating that a mother has both the power either to ruin or build the society, he reminded the colony women to be obedient to God and steadfastly take good care of their spouses and children.

Gwirie also reminded the colony denizens to continue to remain firm in their faith and look to God who has been merciful and kind.

The pastor also acknowledged the significant role played by the New Market Youth Organisation (NMYO), New Market Area Panchayat (NMYO) and New Market Women Organisation (NMWO) in coordinating with the government and the colony members during the prevailing situations.

Vimeyienuo, on behalf of the children, also delivered a message on the occasion thanking each and every mother for their undying love, affection, care and patience towards their families and everyone around them.

Earlier, pastor Avilie PunyĆ¼ read the Scripture and invoked God’s blessings.

Maintaining all the norms of social distancing, few women also joined the pastors where messages were conveyed to the people from a rooftop of a building.
It may be mentioned that since Easter Sunday, NMYO members led by its president Kelhoumedo Andrew Tepa has been pitching in deacons and pastors for short morning prayer service on each Sabbath day as large religious congregations was banned in view of Covid-19.
