New Market FC Kohima launches official jersey for NSF Trophy
Kohima, Oct. 3 (EMN): The New Market FC, Kohima on Sunday evening launched their official jersey at Tiger’s Club Building (New Market Colony) in Kohima for the upcoming 21st NSF Martyrs Memorial Trophy.
Speaking on the occasion, Rokuobizo Nyusou, Chairman of New Market Area Panchayat exhorted the players to be disciplined and show the spirit of sportsmanship in the forthcoming Trophy being organised on the theme “Goal for peace,” from Oct. 9 to Nov. 6.
Mentioning how countries across the world value sportspersons, he cited an example of how a peace treaty was signed in Nigeria, when legendary footballer Pele had arrived in the country to play, despite a war in the nation. He reminded the sportspersons to be cautious of their actions both on and off the field as their deeds can influence the society.
Moreover, the chairman also reminded players to avoid unhealthy food habits, which might hamper their fitness and cautioned them on how pride could bring failure. Stating that people from both near and far places have deep admiration for the team, Nyusou reminded the footballers not to spoil the beautiful game during the matches with unruly behaviour nor intend to injure their opponents. Further, he asked the players aim for higher level of competitions and not be confined only to the district alone.
The jersey was officially launched by the sponsor of the team jerseys, Temjenlemba Longchar along with the special guest, Neikeso Zumu, ASU Games and Sports Secretary, Theja Thomas, and President of New Market Youth Organisation, Andrew Tepa.
Neikeso Zumu, who is an entrepreneur, reminded the players that the jerseys represent the identity of the team. He therefore, also asked them to be disciplined wished them the best for the tournament.
