Dimapur, Nov. 11 (EMN): The governor of Nagaland PB Acharya attended the People’s Festival Khezhakeno 2018 and inauguration of the Chida Resort at Khezhakeno village in Phek district on Nov. 10. A press release from Raj Bhavan offered updates on Sunday about the event.
In his speech, the governor acknowledged the hard work of the Khezhakeno people for hosting the ceremony and opening a tourist destination spot, Chida Lake Resort. He was hopeful that the Chida Lake would be a tourist hotspot in the state.
Stating that preserving history and culture will keep the authenticity of the land, Acharya hoped that the younger generation will realise the important of culture and heritage which makes the people and the land unique and should be showcased with pride. The governor also spoke on the importance of one’s mother tongue. He called on the youth to preserve one’s own language as it is the identity of that person. We must stay in touch with our roots, he added.
Governor Acharya also presented the Governor’s Meritorious Certificates to two outstanding students from Khezhakeno village during the occasion.
Minister for Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue, Neiba Kronu expressed his gratitude to the governor for attending the festival along with his guest. He also lauded governor for taking various initiatives for promoting and preserving the cultural identity.
The programmed was marked with cultural performances by various troupes. President of Tenyimia Public Organisation, S Kepfelhou Ladu gave a brief account of the festival.
