New commissioner takes charge of Dimapur police

Dimapur, Feb. 4: Dimapur police have new commissioners. Limasunep Jamir, IPS, has taken over as the new commissioner of Dimapur police. Vechipa Vise has also taken over as the new deputy commissioner for police zone-1. The commissioner of police issued a note on Saturday stating that the police “exist for the people and the people for the police and, this symbiotic relation has always existed in one form or the other in every society.” Appealing to the citizens not to take the law into own hands, Commissioner Limasunep Jamir stated that “all the laws are products of social requirements and exist to serve the people, to maintain peace and order in society.” The commissioner of police has sought the cooperation and support of citizens to maintain peace and to restore normalcy to the district. “Dimapur police under his watch would tirelessly endeavour to provide a credible, transparent, accountable police administration in the service of people to whom it is dedicated to serve,” the note added.
