New Airtel tower inaugurated in Phek’s Khulazu Basa village
KOHIMA — A new mobile tower (Airtel) was inaugurated at Khulazu Basa village, Phek district, on Wednesday in an effort to improve network coverage for villagers in general and students in particular.
Since there was no coverage and no mobile tower in the village, Bharti Airtel Ltd. initiated the construction of one in the village as part of its rural outreach programme. The new mobile tower is expected to help students in particular in their online studies, said Sulanthung Ngullie, territorial manager, Kohima, Bharti Airtel Ltd.
He also mentioned that Airtel SIM cards are being distributed to some of the village’s students and youth.
On Wednesday morning, the Khulazu Basa Village Council held a short dedicatory ceremony in which the head deacon of Khulazu Basa Baptist Church, Meshutsu Rhakho, pronounced the dedicatory prayer and formally inaugurated the newly constructed tower.
It may be mentioned that the new tower is the first to have been erected in the village.
