DIMAPUR— Kohima battalion of the Assam Rifles has constructed and dedicated a helipad in Ruzazho village under Phek district. Ruzazho village is known in the history of India’ struggle for freedom, where the supreme commander of Indian National Army (INA), Subhash Chandra Bose, popularly known as netaji, set up his camp in the village.
A defence release stated that the helipad was constructed by a team of Kohima battalion with assistance from the Engineer Regiment with an aim to provide better connectivity to boost tourism sector and emergency services in the area.
It stated that Maj. Gen. Vikas Lakhera, IGAR (North), along with Dr. Vekho Swuro, in presence of Col. Manjeet Singh Kooner, additional DIG 5 Sector Assam Rifles, inaugurated the helipad and christened as Netaji Ruzazho Helipad on June 1.
The work began on December 20, 2022, and completed in record time of less than six months. The helipad was dedicated to all the parents in Ruzazho village as well as to the entire state of Nagaland to mark the ‘Global Day of Parents.’
The event was attended by VCC, VDB secretary, village council secretary, GBs and Assam Rifles team.
Meanwhile, the villagers have expressed gratitude to the Assam Rifles for the noble gesture accorded to the people in the area.
A total of 400 people from Sekruzu area witnessed the event.
