Dimapur, May 1 (EMN): Nagaland Empowerment of People through Economic Development (NEPED) conducted a storytelling and drawing contests on nature in Punglwa, Songlhuh, Inbung, Heningkunglwa and Ngwalwa villages under Peren district between April 25 and 27.
The contests were organised as part of methodology for community mobilisation and decision making process called ‘Financial Participatory Approach’ (FPA) under the project ‘Forest and Biodiversity Management in the Himalaya, Nagaland,’ which is being co-financed by the Federal Republic of Germany through KFW (German Development Bank), stated an update from NEPED.
NEPED, which is the project implementing agency, stated a story telling contest was conducted for the adults and drawing contest for children in all the above mentioned villages. It added that the top five selected candidates were given cash awards and certificates.
It mentioned that FPA is being implemented on pilot basis in the above five villages under Peren district, which is believed to be the first of its kind in the country.
It informed that subsequent contests would be held on topics related to nature and conservation and added that the winning ideas would be implemented by the villagers themselves through the village level working groups.
Report further informed that a total of 70 CCA villages would be covered by the projects all across the state.
