
The Nepali Baptist Church Chümoukedima Youth Ministry organised a one-day Nepali gospel singing competition Voice Hunt Season-III at Chümoukedima Town Hall on Sep. 22 with 13 finalists performing at the competition.
An update issued on Sep. 23 informed that the competition held under the theme ‘Praise his name,’ was organised with a focus to inspire, enrich, and motivate the Christian Gorkha youths under Association of the Gorkha Baptist Churches Nagaland (AGBCN) both spiritually and musically. The music ministry aims to make use of music to strengthen friendship and to bridge the gap between Gorkha communities.
This was the third time the community of Gorkha NBC Chümoukedima youth department took initiative of organising singing competition for Christian Gorkha singers.
Yeshi Thapa, winner of Voice Hunt Season-I and Season-II is said to have performed during the competition.
Sponsor for the prize money of the event was Annie Jain, Director of Dimapur 24/7 who sponsored for the winner with free audio Recording for the singer. While the cash prize of second and third runner-up was sponsored by Vizovotuo Yhoshu, a concerned citizen of Chümoukedima Town.
All together 13 contestants from nine different Gorkha Churches of Nagaland took part in the event namely NBC Medziphema, GBC Diphupar, GCC Darogapathar, GBC Thahekhu, GBC Tseminyu, GBF Tsongsa, DTNBC Duncan, GBC Thilixu, NBC Padumpukhuri.
The first prize was bagged by Ruth Chettri of Gorkha Baptist Church Thilixu; second prize was won by Alika Thapa of Gorkha Baptist Church Thahekhu; and third by Maya Chetri of Gorkha Christian church Darogapathar.
