Dimapur, May 16 (EMN): Master of Social Work (MSW) students of North East Institute of Social Science and Research (NEISSR) has organised one-day awareness programme at Government Town Middle School, United Colony, Dimapur, on May 16. The programme was organised with an aim to provide platforms and opportunities for self-expressions and leadership development in social responsibilities.
During the programme, various competitive activities on social and environment issues and social responsibilities were organised for the students. Altogether, 39 students participated in the drawing competition, while 12 students participated in the essay competition and 10 students participated in the extempore speech competition.
Shimran of Class 7B won the first prize in the essay writing, while Chingtoak of Class 6A won the first prize in drawing competition and Tsalila of Class 7B won the first prize in extempore speech competition.
The best four winners of the competitions were given certificates and stationery set each.
Speaking on the occasion, the school’s headmistress Megolhoubino exhorted the students to take such initiatives for capacity building in making school education relevant to contemporary issues and social realities. She also thanked the MSW trainees for helping the school in many ways through their activities and encouraged them to continue helping the government schools.
MSW trainees, Johnny Y Patton and Chenithung Kikon encouraged the students to face the real world challenges with courage and determination. The program was conducted by eight MSW trainees.
