Dimapur, May 1 (EMN): North East Institute of Social Science and Research (NEISSR) observed the International Labor Day on May 1 at its conference hall.
Addressing the students on the occasion, NEISSR’s principal Dr. Fr. CP Anto stated that dignity of labour should be complemented with justice.
“Success of the work is not confined only to the limits of hard work alone but it is accompanied by truth, justice and commitment,” CP Anto stated. He encouraged the students to work smart with values and acknowledged their effort and labour in completing their research work on time.
International Labour Day is celebrated internationally for promotion of the International Labour Union. The first celebration of May Day in India was organised in Madras (now Chennai) by the Labour Kisan Party of Hindustan on May 1, 1923.
Renchano Lotha of IV semester moderated the programme, while the NEISSR music club presented a special song followed by a sharing on belief by Toli of IV semester. Dr. Amit Das, assistant professor, shared about the origin and importance of International Labour Day.
The programme concluded with the singing of NEISSR anthem.
