Dimapur, March 23 (EMN): North east institute of social sciences and research (NEISSR) organised its annual ‘Youth Knit 2019’ on the theme “Challenges of educated youth and the way forward” in the auditorium of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School on March 23. The programme was organised in collaboration with OP Jindal Global University (Delhi), Nehru Yuva Kendra (Dimapur), Serendip Guardians (Dimapur) and Peace Channel (Dimapur).
Around two hundred participants from different schools, hostels, colleges, government departments and non-governmental organisations attended the programme.
Prof. Dr. D Gnanadurai, vice chancellor of St. Joseph University, inaugurated the event and motivated the youth to be powerful and trend setters of the world. He also encouraged the congregation to be broadminded and tap the resources available to strive towards making Nagaland a renowned state in the world.
Dr. Ravikant Singh encouraged the youth to a job creator. He also advised them to be leaders of the nation by maintaining integrity and value and working hard to make their vision comes true.
In the first panel discussions, resource persons namely Sunny Joseph, executive director of AIDA, and YM Jiaul Islam Chowdhury, district youth co-ordinator of NYK, spoke on challenges faced by educated youth and the way forward. In the second panel discussion, Rozelle Mero, managing director of The People Channel, and Dr. Samrat Sinha, assistant professor of Jindal School of International Affairs, OP Jindal Global University, were the resource persons.
An inspirational youth talk competition was also conducted with the participation of 18 students. Witadthiu Meriam, who spoke on ‘Bullying and body shamming as the least topics discussed in the society,’ won the first prize. Likoklemba A Jamir won the second prize and Impolong Changkiri won the third prize.
