Neisalie wins ASA marathon race

Kohima, March 2: Neisalie Yakhro of Southern Angami Sports Association (SASA) won the ASA Golden Jubilee marathon race, while Kevide Kikhi of SASA and Neilabeituo Shüya of Northern Angami Sports Association (NASA) bagged the second and third positions respectively.
With the victory in marathon race, SASA got past NASA to once again take the lead in the medal standing till day-three of the ASA 50th anniversary sports meet. SASA now leads with 34 medals (excluding indoor games) including 12 Gold medals 9 Silver and 13 Bronze, while NASA with 32 medals including 11 Gold, 11 Silver and 10 Bronze is placed behind SASA. Though some of the third-place matches for indoor games were played this evening, however the results are not included in the latest medal standing as the report could not be availed till the filing of this report.
The winner in marathon walked home richer with a cash award of Rs. 15,000, while the 1st and 2nd runners-up also received Rs. 12,000 and Rs. 8,000 respectively.The marathon race which started from Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, via TCP Gate, Razhü Point, Tin Pati, DBS, BSF Check Gate, Seikhazou, culminated at Kohima local ground.
In Football, Western Angami Sports Association (WASA) made it through to the final following their victory against SASA via tie-breaker. Chakhroma Sports Association (CSA) also entered the final with their victory against NASA 2-0.
The third place for football was played this evening. SASA bagged the bronze medal in football with their victory against NASA by a solitary goal.
While in men’s volleyball, SASA and WASA have made it through to the final following their victory against CSA and NASA respectively.
In women’s volleyball, SASA and CSA cruised into the final with their victory against NASA and WASA respectively. The third place for women’s volleyball was also played this evening, wherein NASA came out victorious.
The finals for football and volleyball for both men and women would be held tomorrow. Likewise, all the finals for indoor games including Badminton, Table Tennis and Sepaktakraw are also scheduled tomorrow evening at 3 pm at Indoor Stadium, Kohima.
Earlier on the day, the day-three event at Kohima local ground was graced by MLA Kropol Vistu as the special guest, while Chief Patron of ASA jubilee Vilelie Khamo, Super Class-1 Contractor, flagged off the marathon race.
The day-four event at Kohima local ground would be graced by MLA Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu, while MLA Zhaleo Rio will grace the finals of indoor games on Friday evening.
