Dimapur, June 10 (EMN): In what will enable public have easy access to credible Covid-related details including hospital beds status across the state, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Thursday launched Nagaland Covid-19 information app at the War Room in Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima.

Speaking at the launch event, Rio congratulated the department of Information Technology and Communication for successfully developing and launching the much-needed Nagaland Covid-19 information app, saying that it would greatly help the citizens in gathering accurate information related to the pandemic in the state, informed an update from DIPR.

However, he lamented that misinformation and false speculations are hampering the state’s fight against Covid especially the vaccination drive.

He said that “with the launch of the app, all required information related to Covid-19 would be easily accessible to all the citizens and would go a long way in dispelling any doubts that the general public might have”.

Stressing on the need to educate the public, he said dissemination of proper and accurate data and information is vital in ensuring that the state successfully contains the pandemic situation.

He went on to say that ‘the state was at par with other states in the field of Information Technology and acknowledged the efforts of the War Room that have been working tirelessly for the past few months’.

“Rio also made an impromptu call to the Mon District Covid-19 helpline and talked with the personnel managing the Covid-19 crisis in the district regarding the overall Covid status there and asked them if they had any grievances which the government can look into,” the update stated.

The Nagaland Covid-19 Information App, which is a minimised version of the Nagaland Covid-19 Dashboard portal, is developed and maintained by the department of Information Technology and Communication for the State Covid-19 War Room.

The main objective of the App is to provide Covid-19 information including hospital bed status to the citizens through a single platform. ‘Contact information at all levels of management of Covid-19 in the state will also be provided to assist the citizens to quickly get help during times of emergencies,’ the update informed.
