Neikehienuo, Abraham win Gordon Graham Prize for Naga Literature
Dimapur, Nov. 26 (EMN): Neikehienuo Mepfhü-o and Abraham Lotha have been named winners of the 2nd Gordon Graham Prize for Naga Literature.
The award is an initiative of the Kohima Educational Trust (UK) and Kohima Educational Society (Nagaland).
In a press release issued on Tuesday, the organisers informed that Mepfhü-o was chosen for her work of fiction My Mother’s Daughter (Heritage Publishing House); and Lotha’s The Hornbill Spirit: Nagas Living their Nationalism (Heritage Publishing House) won him the honours in non-fiction.
According to the organisers, both were unanimous selections by three independent judges. In fiction, two other books were shortlisted: Campus Blues by Sentilong Ozukum and Aosenla’s Story by Temsula Ao.
Previous winner in fiction, Easterine Kire’s Walking the Roadless Road: Exploring the Tribes of Nagaland was the other book shortlisted in non-fiction category.
The award, which carries a cash prize of INR 1,00,000 and a certificate each, will be presented to the winners at the inaugural function of this year’s Hornbill Festival at Kisama in Kohima, the organisers informed.
